The myth of the
portal:
Contrary to what
most people would like to believe, Dungeon Keeper
knows at the beginning of a level -exactly- how
many creatures you will get.
Here's a little
clarification on how rooms affect attraction:
* Making a room
bigger will NOT attract more creatures is you've
already been given your lot of those creatures.
* However, some
creatures will not come through UNTIL you have
their "room" a certain size. (Those who
don't believe me, go out and BUY dungeon keeper.)
* And on a side
note, the size of a room does NOT affect the
speed at which that room works.
So how does the
game know how many creatues to give you? Well,
you hackers will be glad to know that it isn't
hard coded. As most of you already know, there is
a text file in your install directory that
dictates this and other behaviors about the game.
