For those of you losing imp after imp to lightning and poison gas traps, try this instead.

When you find an enemy trap, grab 2 imps. Let the first imp claim the land all the way up to the trap and set it off. While the first imp is busy dying from the trap, drop the second imp on a square adjacent to the trap. Since traps have a delay time of a few seconds before they can go off again, the second imp will claim the land under the trap, disarming it without getting killed.
