I object to everyone saying that Horned
Reapers are more trouble than they're worth.
Horned Reapers are the most powerful creature in
the game, and there is a way to keep them under
control. Before summoning it, build a room,
probably at least a 5x5, at the end of a small
corridor. Block off the corridor with a door (or
more if you are paranoid), and lock it. In the
room, build a lair, training area, hatchery and
treasury (only a few squares big, mind, they're
only for one monster). I am not sure whether the
Reaper needs to eat or get paid, but better safe
than sorry. Now summon your Reaper, and place him
immediately in his room. He will build a lair and
go to sleep, so set him training. Remember to
make sure the door is locked! After a while, he
may become angry, so you can do oe of two things,
i) Pick up some coins and drop them on him, he
will play with them and be happy for a while. ii)
combat makes him happy, so find some enemies for
him too kill, or even better, drop a prisoner in
his room!
Now you have your Reaper contained, away from
your other monsters, so he will not start
slaughtering them at random. Whenever you want to
use him, just pick him up from the Creature Table
and drop him into battle. Watch the table
constantly. As soon as you see that he is not in
combat, pick him up and place him back in his
room. He will attack enemies over your own
monsters, but don't let him wander around. As
long as you keep him training, you should find he
will rip a whole hoard of the enemy apart single
handedly, and if use strategically, will be well
worth those three creatures you sacrificed to get
him.
All the sacrifice combos so far -
wow, let's see!
