TRACER is my latest QBASIC
project. One of my students was working on a very
basic version, where two people maneuvered a pair
of lines around on-screen in an attempt to trap
the other person.
It
was done in screen mode 12 (640 x 480 x 16) and I
thought - here is something to work on, that
could lead to a nice result. One of the things I
saw as a real challenge was to add some sort of
AI, so a person could play against the computer,
in the absence of human adversaries.
I
used my own QBASIC drawing program for a lot of
the graphics, but Adobe Photopaint and Paint Shop
Pro were also taken into service. I redid the
game in mode 13h (320 x 200 x 256) which I think
improved its appearance.
